A resident of Krasnodar was detained on suspicion of fraud with cryptocurrencies

The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region reported that the police detained a resident of Krasnodar, who is suspected of fraud with cryptocurrency in the amount of 1 million rubles.

According to investigators, the 20-year-old suspect created a page on the social network, where offered services for investing in cryptocurrencies. A 22-year-old resident of the Mikhailovsky district of the Volgograd region "cut" on the ads. During the correspondence, the fraudster convinced the victim to transfer 1 million rubles, promising a significant profit.

After the victim began to demand profit and the first deposit, the scammer simply blocked him on the social network and changed his phone number. After that, a statement was made to the police. Law enforcement agencies reported that they were able to identify the perpetrator and detain him. He confessed to having an affair and said he spent the money on equipment and other things.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud on an especially large scale", the suspect was detained. He faces up to 10 years in prison. Now investigators are trying to establish the involvement of the detainee in other similar crimes.

In February, it was reported that a resident of Tobolsk transferred 5,6 million rubles to cryptocurrency scammers.
